Greater Dayton Faith Community Nurse-Health Ministers will host a networking group meeting 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, Miami Valley Hospital South Education Center Conference Room, 2400 Miami Valley Drive. Greene County News Festival-goers will have the opportunity to try all sorts of authentic Indian cuisine at Grand Mela this weekend. 2018 Small Arms Firing School

The course is part of the National Trophy Matches, held annually during the summer months at the Camp Perry National Guard Training Facility in Ohio. The Small Arms Firing School is a two-day clinic that includes a safety training and live fire portion on the first day and an M16 Rifle Excellence In Competition match on day two.

Beavercreek crash sent two to hospital -

According to Beavercreek Police Captain Chad Lindsey, a car going southbound on Grange Hall Road went to turn left onto Butterfield Drive when it collided with a car going northbound. Two individuals involved in the crash were reportedly injured.

R Taco moves forward with plans for second Dayton-area location

The second location of a popular taco restaurant is expected to open this fall. Construction has already begun for R Taco's Beavercreek location at 2760 Towne Drive, according to a spokesperson from local franchise group ThreeWitt Enterprises Inc., and the restaurant is expected to open in late October.

Renovations planned for Dayton-area clothing retailer

A Dayton-area Old Navy store may soon have a new look. A building alteration permit valued at just over $1 million was recently issued for the Old Navy store at 4439 Walnut Street at The Greene Town Center in Beavercreek.

County sample tests positive for West Nile -

According to Ohio Department of Health , West Nile Virus has been detected in a mosquito sample from Greene County. Greene County Public Health recently received notice from ODH that the positive result came from a pool of mosquitoes in Beavercreek in the neighborhood of N. Fairfield Road, Hanes Road, Kemp Road, and Suburban Drive.

Legislators announce effort to support vets, family -

State Representatives Jim Butler and Rick Perales and Senator Bob Hackett held a press conference today to highlight legislation that supports military members, veterans, and their families in Ohio. "Out of an estimated 3,600 military spouses in Ohio, 35 percent of them work in a profession that requires a license or certificate.

Small newsrooms of today

It's not a complaint, it's a fact - the newsroom is one-third the size it was 20 plus years ago. When I started as a reporter at the Xenia Daily Gazette in 1995, right out of Wright State University, the 13 full-time staff and approximately 10 freelancers had one daily newspaper to worry about.

Missing teen found safe at home

Family members say 15-year-old Caleb Corbitt ran from the Rave Cinemas at the Greene after seeing a movie around 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening. Investigators with the Beavercreek Police called 2NEWS just after 2:30 a.m. Thursday to report Corbitt had returned home safely.

Proposal would make it easier for military spouses to continue careers in Ohio

Servicemembers are frequently thanked for serving their country but "often forgotten," said State Rep. Jim Butler, is the sacrifice their spouses make. But, military spouses transferring to Ohio will soon find it easier to continue working in their chosen field if a proposed law introduced in the Statehouse this week becomes law.
